FROM FAMILY FOCUS (Part of United Way)

From: Bobbie Hinden Sent: Monday, January 22, 2024 4:46:57 PMSubject: Thank you!!!

Dear Crafters,

I can’t thank you enough for the hard work and dedication you put into making SO MANY HATS AND SCARVES for our Family Focus families. Your work is beautiful and complete families now have warm heads because of you. When parents came to Family Focus to pick up gifts, we had hats and scarves laid out for them to choose from. They delighted in having a choice for each family member. Some of them even tried to match so they could take a family picture. I’m hoping for copies.

Our families are so blessed to have generous neighbors like all of you! Our Lake County donors including United Way helped them have happy holidays. I have attached a few pictures of our Family Focus children.

Please accept our sincere thanks. I’m sure this project must have taken a long time to complete!

With gratitude,

Bobbie

FALL DRIVE Feedback from Lou after delivering to several receiving organizations

Dearest ladies,
I wish you could have been with Diane and me to see the gratitude, awe, and appreciation of the people receiving all our hats, scarves, blankets and toiletries. At Padds, some of the clients were going in to the building and took the bags from us so we wouldn't have to carry them. So grateful for what we brought. And inside, the receiver at the door could not have been more surprised at how many (5 bags) we were giving themFive ladies at United Way helped carry all the many bags and boxes of items, dishes, soaps etc in. They, too, could not get over the generosity of the ladies in our group. I showed them the picture of the Yoda afghan and another of Dottie's beautiful blankets. They were so impressed that our group makes beautiful things and gives them away. You all do so much. I am impressed and inspired by your giving. Whispering Oaks was picking up their bag at United Way.Monday we will take ASafePlace and Staben House items. The car is once again filled: back seat and back of the SUVHappy Thanksgiving!Gratefully, Lou. 💕🙏

KIDS KORNER

Hello Ela Crafters!

Barb arranged for Sue to drop off your latest donation on Friday, October 20!

Today, we opened the bags and took inventory of the plethora of wonderful handmade items and delightful variety of books. Please see the attached picture.

As always, we are rendered speechless by the craftsmanship and care with which you create each item. We can’t wait to hand out the books, loveys, balls and other cute items along with the blankets in the adorable (and useful) totes to the children!

Thank you for your kind and generous donation and steady support of Kids’ Korner over the years.

With gratitude,

Martha

Dear Lou,

Thank you very much for your thoughtful donation of 24 Hats ,20 scarfs on January 26, 2023 to support survivors and children of domestic violence and human trafficking.

It is not just monetary donations that ensure that our organization provides necessities for victims. Contributions like clothing for warmth and comfort; toiletries that make a normal, everyday life seem possible; and food to nourish those who left everything behind when fleeing violent homes allow a greater sense of safety. Once safe, Mother’s Day gifts and holiday toys brighten lives during times of turbulent change, reiterating the sense of community that our survivors crave so dearly.

Last fiscal year, your support allowed A Safe Place to provide these things and more to a record number of families:

  • More than 300 families received Thanksgiving dinner
  • More than 2,300 holiday gifts were distributed
  • Daily items like toiletries & diapers were provided to triple the number of emergency shelter residents and their children

You made that possible. Your contributions helped to provide hope for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking and their children.

If you are interested in pursuing more opportunities with A Safe Place, such as volunteering, please contact us at (847) 731-7165. Thank you for making such an impact on our community

With warm regards,

Pat Davenport
