Guidelines
NMCRS have specific requirements. They will provide yarn.
General Guidelines:
The colors and sizes:
- Knit and Crochet: Distinct boy or girl colors or neutral, white, yellow, green or purple. Heather or pastel colors are safe choices. Avoid red, bright orange, black. All one color. A border of white is fine. The blanket must be at least 30x30 inch square and no more than 32x32 inch square.
- Quilts or Fleece: Mixes colors and designs are acceptable. Handmade quilts may be 36x36 or 40x40 inch square. Size for the Fleece should remain the same, 36x36.
Important Notes
- Square is preferred by the parents.
- Due to safety concerns, all chosen patterns must be tightly woven.
- Keep yarn and blankets clean.
- Smoke free at all times.
- Due to allergy concerns, keep work and yarn protected from pets.
- The blankets need to be soft and washable and dryable. Stitch in loose yarn ends.
- A simple knot will not hold up with washing.
- Blankets must be handmade by us, not store bought.
- Blankets made using yarn provided by NMCRS must be donated back to NMCRS.
