Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS)
Guidelines
NMCRS is specific in their requirements.
The colors are: distinct boy or girl colors. All pink or all blue. A border of white is fine.
They do not like blue and pink mixed. Neutral colors are white yellow, green or purple.
Heather or pastel colors are safe choices. Avoid red, bright orange, black.
NMCRS will provide the yarn
Sizes: The blanket must be at least 30x30 inch square and no more than 32x32 inch square. Handmade quilts may be 36x36 inch square.
- Square is preferred by the parents.
- Due to safety concerns, all chosen patterns must be tightly woven.
- Keep yarn and blankets clean.
- Smoke free at all times.
- Due to allergy concerns, keep work and yarn protected from pets.
- The blankets need to be soft and washable and dryable. Stitch in loose yarn ends.
- A simple knot will not hold up with washing.
- Blankets must be knitted or crocheted by you.
- Blankets made using yarn provided by NMCRS must be donated back to NMCRS.
